The Bachelor programme is designed to deliver in-depth hospitality know-how, business management expertise and professional practical skills and is offered in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Lucerne (HSLU).

Industry Internships

Industry Internships

Industry internships are an indispensably valuable opportunity for you to experience the world of hospitality first hand. Our Career & Internship Department is at hand to assist and counsel you and assure that you will find a suitable internship. Your paid internships take place in semester 2 and 4. Through the two 6-month internships you will gain your first real hospitality work experiences, start building your personal professional network and additionally write reflective reports as a part of your course work.

First Internship: a F&B operational internship that allows you to put theory into practice by working in a SHL approved establishment in Switzerland or abroad. You are free to choose to work in either a culinary or service position or to combine the two.

Second Internship: a Rooms Division internship that allows you to put the knowledge gained in Semester 3 into practice by working in a SHL approved establishment in Switzerland or abroad. You can choose to work in a variety of positions related to Rooms Division and are motivated to gain supervisory experience.

Degree Accreditation & Memberships

SHL offers one of the two Swiss globally recognised Bachelor of Science degrees in Hospitality Management in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Lucerne (HSLU).
 

Degree accreditation:

  • Accredited by the Swiss Federal Government and in compliance with the Bologna Declaration, using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
  • Federally recognised in accordance with the Federal Vocational Training Act. SHL is subject to supervision by the federal government and the canton of Lucerne
  • EduQua certified.
